It’s no secret that I love a challenge. Whether it’s starting a new business, strategizing a new marketing campaign for a contracted business or organization. I’ve never been averse to pushing myself… testing the engine inside me to discover new limits.

Everyone has a point where they just can’t go any further. Their quitting point. When your lungs are aflame and every muscle in your body is locked, and every nerve spastic. It’s like a game of Tetris when the music goes faster and the pieces are stacked screen high, and you no longer can rotate the pieces on time, nor do you have the room to do so.

These new plateaus mean growth.

You’ve now reached new heights.

The 2023 Everest In Edmonton Charity event will be for Prostate Cancer.

We have started a charity event called Everest In Edmonton: a 44.5 KM, 58,750 step hike through the River Valley, Hawrelak Park and then a final push up the stairs to finish in Laurier Heights.

This is to simulate the same distance from the base of Mount Everest, to its peak. This charity/foundation, started by 22 year long friends, Mark Pavelich and Shonn Oborowsky, will be an annual event, open to the public to register.

The 2022 Everest In Edmonton Charity event was put on for Multiple Myeloma Cancer.

Multiple Myeloma, commonly referred to as myeloma, is a cancer of the plasma cells found in the bone marrow. Although myeloma is an incurable disease. With increasing research and emerging treatments, the overall outlook for patients is steadily improving.

It is estimated that 12,410 deaths (6,840 men and 5,570 women) from this disease will occur this year.

The 5-year survival rate tells you what percent of people live at least 5 years after the cancer is found. Percent means how many out of 100. The overall 5-year survival rate for people with multiple myeloma is 54%.

For the 5% of people who are diagnosed at an early stage, the 5-year survival rate is 75%. If the cancer has spread to a distant part of the body, the 5-year survival rate is 53%. Approximately 95% of cases are diagnosed at this stage.

The Saturday, February 26th, 2022 event was a success! We raised $17,210 for Myeloma Canada!

Through publicity and an aggressive marketing campaign, future publicly held events will be held annually, creating opportunity for funding and raising support for the cause.

In our 2021, we raised $13,000- for Breast Cancer, in 2022 $17,210 for Multiple Myeloma and for each subsequent year, a different cause will be highlighted.
